Personal Professional Development
When teachers bring students to the institute for a field
experience, a resource room is available for instructional planning.
The room (pictured) includes a variety of resources, a monitor to view
students as they work in other areas of the institute, a copy machine,
and a computer with internet access and printing. While the students
are woking on hands-on, standards based investigations, teachers have
quality time to plan. No instructional time is lost. A field trip
like no other!
Staff Retreats and Professional Development
Francis Allen Institute creates staff retreats and professional
development seminars based on the specific needs of individual schools
or district's needs. The retreats can include low impact team
building with teachers that can be replicated on school site and
used with students. Retreats can focus on specific professional
development needs based on data from ISTEP, etc. Francis Allen
Institute specializes in the areas of math and science. We can
also assist teachers in developing theme based, integrated
instruction. The institute has a variety of environments (inside
and outside) conducive to grade level break-out sessions.
Off-site professional development gives teachers an opportunity to work
together without the constant reminder of other tasks requiring
attention!
